Jonas Berl showcases trust-enhanced quantum key management at OFC 2025
Demo will show how national-scale quantum key distribution networks can use distributed key routing to withstand attacks on trusted nodes
- Speakers: Jonas Berl, advanced technology engineer at Adva Network Security
- Topics: Trust-enhanced quantum key management system for meshed QKD networks
- When: Monday, March 31, 2 p.m. PT
- Where: OFC, Moscone Center, San Francisco, California, USA https://www.ofcconference.org/en-us/home/
To overcome the reach limitations of quantum key distribution (QKD) devices, end-to-end keys are generated through key relaying at trusted nodes. A quantum key management system (QKMS) orchestrates this process while also managing the generated key material, making it a critical component of long-haul QKD networks. As QKD networks scale, ensuring their resilience against potential security threats is essential.
In this OFC Demo Zone session, Jonas Berl will present a trust-enhanced QKMS with distributed key routing, designed to maintain end-to-end security even if some trusted nodes are compromised. Attendees will see a live demonstration of an emulated nationwide QKD network, showcasing automated deployment of network elements and QKMS components to verify real-world feasibility.
